Summertime
Starting my second month of summer break, I couldn't be happier with how the summer is turning out so far. It almost feels like when you're a kid, and summer seems so long at the beginning of July, only to speed up quickly. Before you know it, it's August and time to get new school supplies. These past few weeks, I've been reading more books, especially romance ones, and watching all the cheesy Hallmark movies I can. The library lets you rent a Hallmark movie pass for a week at a time, and it's the best. I've also been spending time with Bea and Jules.
I built one Lego set—a London phone booth with a light inside—and a book nook that's a garden scene. It was really nice to do something crafty and stay off my phone too. I haven't been spending much time on social media this summer, and it's been such a good break for me. I feel less anxious, find myself comparing myself to others less, and generally feel better about myself.
Another goal I had for this summer was to find an internship for the fall semester. I applied to at least seven places. Many were unpaid, but the experience is worth it since without it, I will have a harder chance of getting a job once I graduate if I don’t at least do one internship while in school. I lucked out and found a remote internship with a school that focuses on Health sciences, helping with their 24-hour reference chat. I'm really excited to get the reference experience and to work for a school that focuses on health sciences since I'm curious about medical librarianship.
For the rest of the summer I am going to enjoy the time I have left before I have to get back into school mode and trying to find a job after graduation. For a little bit longer I am going to enjoy this free time.
